Waterbound Evidence Transport Chamber - W.E.T. Chamber
Designed for the encapsulated removal and preservation of functional mechanical evidence with the intention of laboratory examination and analysis at a later date.
Ferrous metals such as steel quickly corrode in open air after exposure to wet conditions. Weapons such as handguns are often times disposed of in bodies of water after use in the commission of a crime. Extensive efforts may be used to locate these weapons, only to result in a weapon which is inoperable due to corrosion. The W.E.T. Chamber is the ideal solution when eventual ballistics testing is required.
Once a diver or technician has located a submerged weapon, the W.E.T. Chamber is opened and placed just below the water surface. The weapon is brought to the surface, photographed while still submerged, and unloaded. The unloaded weapon, and any bullets or magazine, is placed inside of the chamber after it has filled with water. The leak-proof pressure seal lid is then secured over the opening. The weapon can then be transported to your agencys laboratory for analysis. To prevent corrosion immediately place the weapon in an oil bath upon removal from the W.E.T. Chamber. The handgun chamber is 6 in diameter and 16 long, accommodating all sizes of handguns. Includes a plastic storage case, 100 waterproof Tyvek evidence tags, and a Sharpie marker. DO NOT INSERT LOADED WEAPONS INSIDE OF THIS CHAMBER AT ANY TIME. |
