HUMAN BLOOD VERIFICATION

Hexagon OBTI - Human Blood Verification - NEW PRODUCT HEXAGON OBTI is the perfect complement to the BLUESTAR® Forensic Reagents. This rapid screening test verifies that a suspected sample is indeed human blood. When the result is positive, you know you are in presence of human blood. HEXAGON OBTI is a two-part test : a collection tube for the blood sample, and a test bar.A sample of the presumed human blood trace is transferred into the tube with transport medium. This mixture is added drop by drop to the test. A positive sample is typically detected within 2-3 minutes.A single blue line means the testing liquid is working fine but no human blood has been detected, two blue lines verifies the test has detected human blood. Each box includes 24 collection tubes and 24 tests. Human hemoglobin (hHb) in the sample reacts with a reagent consisting of blue colored particles and monoclonal anti-human Hb antibodies. The immunocomplex migrates to the test zone where it is captured by an immobilized second antibody directed against hHb forming a blue test line to indicate a positive result. Unreacted reagents migrate further and are bound in a second line by immobilized anti-mouse lgC antibodies. Luminol Reagent Luminol is generally used to assist in the visualization of blood stains and patterns. Luminol is very sensitive and commonly used to locate very faint blood where attempts have been made to clean suspected areas. Invisible footwear patterns can be uncovered at a crime scene when misted with Luminol. Luminol is generally applied with a sweeping motion from a spray bottle or pump sprayer. Evident now provides Luminol in premeasured vials for ease of use in the field. One vial mixed with a corresponding quantity of water can be gently mixed in a sprayer bottle and applied to suspected areas. Luminol is time sensitive and should be used immediately after mixing. After application, blood stains and patterns will glow a bright green and should be photographed immediately, as the effect will fade quickly. 	Hemastix Blood Reagent Strips Hemastix are small 3” plastic test strips with a square of blood reagent material at the tip. Unknown substances may be absorbed onto a swab moistened with sterile water, and then transfered through contact to the square of blood reagent material. Synthetic Blood & Spatter Blood Synthetic Blood was developed in order to fill a need to eliminate the possibility of pathogens originating from the use of human and non-human blood in the classroom or lab. Synthetic blood was formulated to mimic the gross chemical reactions to common chemical tests for blood such as Luminol and Phenolphthalein, and protein enhancement techniques such as Leuco-Crystal Violet or Amido Black. Spatter Blood is intended for use in spatter reconstructions. Spatter Blood is physically similar to fresh blood, and reacts on impact to surfaces much like real blood reacts. Spatter blood can be dropped from an elavated position onto a variety of surfaces to recreate impact angles.
